BEYOND STRESS – RELAXATION BASED STRESS REDUCTION

4 Week Programme

This programme is designed for anyone experiencing the symptoms of stress or who wishes to improve their overall sense of wellbeing. This evidence based programme provides participants with the key skills required to manage pressure more effectively and reduce stress. Participants will practice the eight key techniques to increase relaxation and reduce the symptoms of stress. Symptoms of stress include anxiety, irritability, negative thinking, depression, fatigue, high blood pressure, headaches, digestive disorders, insomnia, and memory problems..

TEACHING STRESS MANAGEMENT COURSES

The Stress Management Institute of Ireland provides training for professionals who wish to acquire the key skills necessary to teach others how to manage stress and pressure in their lives. The course is designed for health care professionals, human resource personnel, psychologists, psychotherapists, counsellors, social workers, educators, occupational therapists, somatic educators, and anyone who deals with stress and its effects in their daily lives.

Teaching Stress Management Part I: Certificate Level

This 20 hour training programme is designed for professional and personal growth. This programme will introduce participants to the eight most effective scientifically proven techniques to manage and combat the effects of stress. Participants will learn to design a training strategy for their targeted populations using these proven techniques. This programme is experiential in nature and is facilitated in a relaxed and supportive manner with emphasis on personal engagement. Participants will explore the most effective techniques for managing stress including breathing techniques, progressive muscular relaxation, visualisation, autogenics, meditation, cognitive restructuring, exercise and coping.

Teaching Stress Management Part II: Diploma Level

This 40 hour training programme is designed for professionals who wish to acquire the skills necessary to teach Stress Management in a variety of professional environments. Participants will discover how learning theory is used effectively to promote behaviour change in a teaching or training environment. Participants will deepen skills learned in Part I and will explore further components of effective Stress Management including Mindfulness, Releasing Muscular Tension, Nutrition, Managing Emotion, Resilience, Wellness and dealing with Personality Factors. Trainees will investigate the interrelationships between Stress, Emotional Intelligence and Trauma.
This is a ‘train the trainer’ course and participants will be required to pass a professional suitability evaluation at the end of the course.

EXECUTIVE SUPPORT SERVICES:

Some organisations have key personnel who may be experiencing a period of acute stress but may not wish to join a group. The Institute offers such individuals one-to-one stress management training covering the key competencies to manage pressure. These interventions are provided in a confidential environment and are typically run over six sessions.

EMPLOYEE SUPPORT SERVICES:

The Stress Management Institute established the Centre for Professional Therapy to increase the support options available to organisations. Our dedicated team of twenty five fully qualified therapists are committed to a high quality of service in a professional environment. We provide organisations with one-to-one counselling and psychotherapy covering a full range of occupational health issues in our consulting rooms in Harcourt Street. Organisations can avail of this full EAP service in addition to the most comprehensive training based interventions for Stress Management available in Ireland.

THE FACILTATORS

Ray McKiernan is a lecturer, skills trainer, and a consultant in organizational and occupational Stress Management.

Ann Cox is a lecturer, skills trainer, psychotherapist and trauma specialist.

Susan Eustace is a lecturer, skills trainer, counselling psychologist.
